The ForeSight™ Oximetry Sensor

Non-invasive real-time monitoring

Image description

BD’s ForeSight™ oximetry sensor uses advanced near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) to measure blood oxygenation.

The ForeSight™ sensor is attached to the desired location on the patient's skin. The sensor provides:

  • Real-time Readings: Collected tissue oxygen (StO₂) sensor data is transmitted to the HemoSphere Alta platform in real-time for physician analysis.
  • Multi-Wavelength Probes: The sensor uses five near-infrared wavelengths to ensure accuracy across varying skin tones and types.
  • Deep Tissue Detection: Photodiodes in the sensor detect light reflected from up to 2.5 cm beneath the skull.

ForeSight™ allows clinicians to quickly detect and respond to cerebral desaturation events, improving patient safety during cardiac and major vascular procedures.

Our Mission

Enhance the Clinician Experience

Clinicians currently apply the ForeSight™ sensors manually, but this process can be streamlined.

We want to ensure:

  • Consistent adhesion: Prevent introduction of ambient light that could interrupt sensor readings.
  • Streamlined application: Reduce application time in high-paced clinical settings.
  • Clinician confidence: Remove user variability in sensor application.

There needs to be a sensor application process to ensure quick, easy, and consistent application. Click here to learn about how we're doing this.
